FORMERLY SILVER PLATED, NOW BRASS, WINE COOLER USED AS COAL BOX

Once a lovely Silver plated wine cooler from the late Victorian or Edwardian period.; still a lovely wine cooler but some very efficient maid has polished away the plate to leave the brass finish which caused the wine cooler to be relegated to a Purdonium, which is a posh name for a coal box!,
Still a perfectly good item to be used as a wine cooler but the inner metal liner would require replacing or coating with something to ensure it waterproof state as the corrosion is just starting to cause perforation.
The overall size is 300 mm wide x 500 mm long x 380 mm high.
The inner box size is 400 mm long x 220 mm wide by 230 mm deep.
The Lion's heads are 70 mm diameter and good cast brass as are the handles, the top knop is 50 mm diameter.
A nice item to restore to it's original use or to continue using as a coal box!
Weight is approx 6 kilos.
